Importing Data into KeyTracker
It is possible to import information from several sources including the common Tab Delimited text file format or even from a file provided by your Locksmith. When importing data, you can choose to import any one of the four main data types Locations, Keys, Users and Doors, or you can import them all.
To Import existing data into KeyTracker, simply follow the steps below.
- Click Import from Locksmith on the File menu of the KeyTracker menu bar.
- Select one of the valid file formats.
- Check Delete Existing Records, if you wish to delete any previously stored data.
- Check First Row Contains Headings, if the first row of the file contains descriptive column headings and not actual data.
- Click Next to continue (the field matching screen shown below will open).
When the import has completed, you will be prompted to save the current Import Specification, which saves the file format, file path and field matching details so that they can be used when next importing..
